Choral Valley non-competitive choral festivals are open to ensembles of all ages and abilities, community or school groups, singing all types of music. The focus is on learning and sharing and to that end, feedback will be provided by the clinician in written and verbal form. No “marks” will be given.
The timing of the festivals is that there is a Fall Festival in November and a Spring Festival in March. Pieces may be “in process” as opposed to “performance perfect”. The festival’s purpose is to provide an opportunity for growth, in musical learning and performance experience in a supportive setting, with the hope that this growth may be integrated into upcoming end-of-term more formal performances.
FORMAT The format for the festival is that each choir will be on stage for 40 minutes. In that time, 3 selections will be performed and the remaining time will be spent working on-stage with the clinician. Participating choirs are encouraged to listen to and support the other choirs. At the conclusion of the festival day, a simple, easy-to-learn mass piece will be sung by all choirs.
Registration opens once the festival dates are announced and closes two weeks before the festival date or when the festival is full.
The cost for a choir to participate is $300. Fees must be submitted within 2 weeks before the festival date. Cheques (made out to Choral Valley) or e-mail money transfers (firstname.lastname@example.org) are accepted. Cheques can be mailed to:
Choral Valley 5 Rod and Gun Rd Courtenay, BC V9N 3N1
Please provide the clinician with original copies of the music your choir is performing.
Please complete the “About Your Choir” form (will be e-mailed to you) for the emcee within a week performance.

Please note that video recordings and photos will be taken during the festival and will be made available for purchase to participating choristers. These may also be used in Choral Valley promotional material. If someone has a privacy concern, they must notify Choral Valley (email@example.com) in writing of their desire for anonymity along with a head shot photo and their choir’s name. It is the responsibility of choirs to inform their singers of this policy. Choral Valley does not assume responsibility for photos or videos taken without Choral Valley’s knowledge.
